In the article Caregivers need more support to figure out health and social systems published in the Toronto Star, Amélie Quesnel-Vallée and her colleague Miles Taylor highlight the structural burden felt by caregivers when trying to navigate their way through the health system. Although the time and energy given by caregivers to perform home care tasks are often examined, hardly any questions are asked to take into account the time and energy required to book appointments and access the health services. This additional burden should be examined further and its understanding could lead to changes in how the public system supports caregivers.
