User Fees Abolished in Quebec: Article for the Ottawa Citizen

In her article Abolishing user fees is just the tip of the iceberg in improving Quebec health care for the Ottawan Citizen, Dr. Quesnel-Vallée explains how Quebec was brought to abolish the fees in the first place. Although this measure is a step in the right direction, Dr. Quesnel-Vallée also describes the considerable amount of work that must still be done by the provincial government to ensure proper patient care. Excerpt:

“There is also something of a climate of fear and uncertainty in the population, with many concerned that they will ultimately be worse off after the ban on user fees takes effect. What is most unfortunate is that much of this controversy often boils down to money, not patient care.”
